| Macauba fruits are oil-rich drupes with high moisture content at harvest. This feature can affect the chemical properties of the oil and increase the costs of biodiesel production. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt postharvest strategies to ensure oil quality. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of drying macauba fruit on the quality of the pulp oil. Husked and dehusked fruits were dried at 60°C and then stored. At 0, 15, 45, 100, and 180 days after storage, fruit samples were retrieved, and the oil from the pulp was evaluated for physicochemical parameters. | Apresentam-se resultados de pesquisa experimental que avaliou o crescimento in vitro de embriões zigóticos e aclimatização de plântulas de bocaiuva (Acrocomia aculeata) cultivadas em diferentes concentrações (0,0; 0,001; 0,005; 0,01; 0,05; 0,1; 0,5 e 1mg L-1) de análogo de brassinosteroide (Biobras 16®). | Frutos de palmeira bocaiuva (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd.), coletados em Dourados (MS) e Presidente Epitácio (SP), foram analisados quanto ao aspecto biométrico, a composição química e as características físicas, visando a avaliar seu potencial alimentício. Os frutos de bocaiuva das regiões de procedência não apresentaram diferenças significativas entre si nas características biométricas. O rendimento médio da polpa foi de 42% em relação ao fruto inteiro, sendo superior ao encontrado na literatura para outros frutos de palmeiras. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o consumo de nutrientes e o desempenho produtivo e econômico de ovinos confinados da raça Santa Inês, alimentados com dietas com diferentes taxas de inclusão de torta de macaúba. Os animais (24) foram distribuídos em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, nos tratamentos com 0, 100, 200 e 300 g kg-1 de torta de macaúba na matéria seca da dieta, em seis repetições, durante 60 dias de confinamento. A adição de torta de macaúba a taxas crescentes à dieta aumentou linearmente o consumo de proteína bruta, extrato etéreo, fibra em detergente neutro e a conversão alimentar. | ABSTRACT The main goal of this study was to evaluate the performance of two palm species under semi-arid conditions during the rainy and dry periods: the semi-arid native Syagrus coronata and a native to tropical America, Acrocomia aculeata. The leaf water potential, gas exchange, leaf soluble sugars, starch, free amino acids, total soluble protein content and morphological traits were measured. The highest leaf water potential and CO2 assimilation values in both species were achieved during the rainy period. | Nesta pesquisa avaliaram-se os efeitos de diferentes níveis de inclusão da torta de macaúba (Acrocomia aculeata) sobre a população de protozoários do rúmen de caprinos. Foram utilizados oito cabritos machos castrados, sem raça definida, portadores de fístulas ruminais, dispostos em dois quadrados latinos e alimentados com quatro dietas com diferentes níveis da torta. Para quantificação dos protozoários, amostras de 1 mL do líquido ruminal de cada animal foram diluídas em 9 mL de solução de formaldeído a 10%. | ABSTRACT The present study was conducted to determine the effects of the inclusion of macauba cake, from biodiesel processing, on profile of rumen protozoa of Santa Ines lambs. Twenty-four lambs were randomized in block design supplemented with macauba cake at 0, 100, 200, and 300 g/kg of dry weight of the diet. Concentrations of small, medium, and large protozoa had quadratic relationships with inclusion of macauba cake, with maximum protozoa occurring at 100 g/kg. | Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the genetic diversity of macaúba (Acrocomia aculeata) accessions from 35 municipalities of the state of Goiás, Brazil, in order to obtain information about the genetic variability and to provide subsidies for the commercial deployment of the culture in the Midwestern region of Brazil. The bunches were harvested with ripe fruits. The following were evaluated: fruit and almond lengths and diameters; the weights of fruits and almonds; the average number of almonds, as well as the oil contents in the almond and in the dehydrated fruit. O presente trabalho teve como objetivos avaliar a influência de concentrações dos sais do meio de cultura MS e de água de coco na germinação in vitro de embriões zigóticos de macaúba e no crescimento inicial de plântulas. | ABSTRACT: This study aimed to extract the oil from macauba pulp using a low-pressure solvent extraction, as well as characterisation of the extracts and defatted meal obtained using different solvents (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and isopropanol). Results reported higher yields in oil, 27.43%, using isopropanol (P<0.05), wherein the highest levels of β-carotene in the extract, 348.30mg 100g-1, were obtained with this solvent. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi relacionar a ocorrência da macaúba (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. ex Martius) no Estado de Minas Gerais a atributos climáticos, pedológicos e vegetacionais. O Estado possui três grandes regiões de ocorrência de macaúba: Alto Paranaíba, Zona Metalúrgica e Montes Claros. A região de Montes Claros é relativamente mais quente e mais seca do que as outras duas, porém as diferenças macroclimáticas regionais não chegam a representar um fator limitante à ocorrência da macaúba.
